The S9 phones make a terrific workout partner thanks to the wireless technology and the water- and sweat-resistant design. Want to listen to your iPod at the gym without getting tangled in wires? The phones are compatible with Bluetooth 2.0-enabled cell phones, iPods with Bluetooth adapters, and select other devices.
Phone-wise, the S9 headphones are built to provide superior call quality, less interference, and faster connections thanks to the Bluetooth 2.0 wireless technology. Class 2 Bluetooth also provides a range of up to 33 feet--enough for a variety of home and portable applications. For optimal outdoor performance, users should position the music device in close proximity to and in the line of sight of the S9's internal antenna, which is located in the base behind the user's head. Placing the music device in a front pocket is not recommended.

Other details include support for up to six hours of music listening or seven hours of talk from a single charge of the 180 mAh lithium-ion battery; a mini USB connector for charging; and a stylish black housing with red highlights. The phones measure 4.9 by 1.8 by 5.1 inches (W x H x D), weigh 1.14 ounces, and are backed by a one-year warranty.

3 out of 5 stars Incompatible with iPhone 3g   January 7, 2009
I was disappointed to find that this does not work with the iPhone 3G. I will do my homework a little better next time because this company does not give the full money back, they charge a 25% restocking fee.

4 out of 5 stars Work well with iPhone and transmitter   January 7, 2009
I use this with the Sony Bluetooth Wireless Transmitter for iPod (Black). Works well in that I am able to both make calls and listen to the iPod. Calls come in only on the left ear (no choice there), but it's not so different than using a one-ear headset. The quality of sound is pretty solid, and it's relatively comfortable.

5 out of 5 stars Bluetooth headset   January 6, 2009
Great product. Sound is fantastic and range from my phone is impressive. Would like to see a little revision for over the ear piece. Sometimes slips and the earpiece comes away from my ear.

Would recommend.

4 out of 5 stars iPhone Not!!! Come Apple, Open up   December 28, 2008
Motorola MOTOROKR S9 Bluetooth Stereo HeadphonesMotorola S9 Stereo Bluetooth Headset [Bulk Packaged]Motorola MOTOROKR S9 Bluetooth Active Headphones [Motorola Retail Packaging]I actually think this product is pretty good. Great design--eye candy. Good fit. Too bad Apple is so non compatible with lots of devices. The set does not work with iPhone for music or pod cast, etc. I'm told that it will work with an adaptor--well I don't want an adaptor, another gadget I have to drag with me? I'm also told that it will work for phone calls, but who cares.

I just got mine the other day and I now I have to return it. This is costing me money with zero reward.

For iPhone, i rate this a zero. But that is not Motorola's fault. The device actually is well designed, light, and no cord to get tangled into while riding my bike or walking through the mall or getting in and out of the car.

S9--I rate it a four on design and comfort. I rate Apple, a zero on compatibility.

Apple, get it together. Please.

3 out of 5 stars A product you will love to hate   December 9, 2008
The Motorola S9 headphones are a product you will love to hate. I purchased these headphones primarily for the following reasons:

* I am a frequent exerciser. I wanted a pair of lightweight wireless headphones that I could use while running or while exercising at the gym.
* I am a city dweller who wanted a pair of headphones that were simple and manageable. I don't want to untangle earbuds. I also want headphones that travel easily.
* As a secondary concern, I wanted to use the headphones to make phone calls.

There are several pluses for this headphone. First, there is the intrinsic cool factor. They are very light and hardly noticeable. You can listen to any device that is Bluetooth enabled. I purchased the Sony transmitter for my Ipod Nano and had great success using the Ipod with it. The ability to change tracks and adjust volume using the headset is very cool. Second, the sound quality is reasonable, so long as you are not expecting high-end sound.

In spite of those pluses, there are several drawbacks. First and foremost, the biggest drawback are the bugs. The first pair of headphones I owned worked fine for a few months, but then the volume controls failed to operate. Because volume is controlled natively, this effectively rendered the headphones inoperable. Motorola sent me a replacement pair of headphones, but the replacement pair shorts-out with great frequency (maybe every 20 minutes or so).

Second, the headphones are primarily headphones, not a headset. If you are looking for a headset first, I would discourage this product. I have tried talking on the phone with these headphones, and the other person said I sounded like I was speaking on a speakerphone. It was almost impossible to communicate outdoors in windy conditions.

Third, I find the maximum volume output to be less than ideal. While the maximum output is sufficient for normal environments, I can find it difficult to hear audio when in loud environments--buses, trains, and planes--and when running, especially when it is windy. The paradox is that these are precisely the environments where people intend to use this ultra-portable, sleek pair of headphones.

Conceptually, these headphones work well. But, in practice, there are too many significant drawbacks to merit purchasing at this time. I would wait for a later, improved version.
